Atlantic Salmon Aquaponics? 

The club has Atlantic salmon yearlings that have survived after their debut as sac-fry in the Animal Physiology class and came directly from the CFRE hatchery. The club is seeing how well they do in a closed loop system that previously housed koi.

Maximizing Aquaponic System Production Yields 

Cameron Mansell, a Fisheries and Wildlife major, will be renovating and updating the ALL plant beds to maximize production yields for tomatoes and basil.

Optimizing Aquaponic System Plant Growth  

Three club members, Bobbi-Jo Caskey, Bree Reagan, and Chloe Yancheak, will be experimenting with growing a variety of herbs under different light conditions and placements within the floating plant rafts. These herbs will be sold to the Les Cheneaux Cullinary Arts School.

Integrating Automation into Aquaponic Systems 

Robert Carpenter, an engineering major, plans to work with a Programmable Logic Controller to help automate the club's aquaponic systems. Plans for the PLC include live data collection with online uploading as well as warning alarms and remote alerts for immediate issues and swift response time.

Aquatic Plants Affecting System Cycling  

Julia Grenn, a Biology major, conducted a senior research project experimenting on if aquatic plants (hornwort and duckweed) affect the cycling processes of vertical aquaponic systems.
