Basil plants thrive in warmer temperatures. If your plant has black spots, looks wilted, or is next to a source of cool air, move your plant. Warmer temperatures equal faster growth. 

Basil plants do not require lots of nutrients, but they still need food to fuel their growth. If your plant is discolored, try adding small amounts of fertilizer to your soil or growth medium.
